Behind the Scenes
Five steps from skein to doorstep.
There is no factory here — just a studio, good light, and a lot of counting. This is exactly how your bag gets made.
Choosing the yarn
Every piece starts at the yarn table. We hand-pick GOTS-certified organic cotton and mercerized blends, checking each skein for evenness and colour-fastness — the sage in the Giraffe Meadow Tote took three dye lots before we were happy.
OngoingCharting the design
Each new piece begins as a pencil sketch and a stitch chart, then gets prototyped twice — once in scrap yarn, once in the final colourway. The giraffe's neck-as-handle needed four attempts before it would stand up.
2-3 daysStitching by hand
No machines and no shortcuts. One person works a piece from start to finish, counting every round so the tension never wanders.
VariesDetails and finishing
Faces embroidered, pearls set, charms attached, lining hand-sewn in, hardware fitted, then the whole thing blocked into shape and checked against a 14-point list.
VariesWrapped with care
Tissue paper, natural twine, a sprig of dried flowers and a handwritten note. Everything we send is plastic-free, and every parcel is signed by the person who made what's inside.
